Water Quality Monitoring

In collaboration with IBM T. J. Watson Labs, we started a pilot project in which we use our new robotic boat (video below) to collect water quality data on Lake Keller.



Equipped with a sensor suite, our boat autonomously collected data regarding oxygen levels, pH levels etc. The picture below shows the trajectory of the boat during one of the trials. (For more information about the boat's architecture and navigation algorithms, you may want to check out this page and the associated paper.)

The data then was processed and interpolated by Levente Klein from IBM. The picture below shows the dissolved oxygen levels at a portion of the lake.
